The soldiers testified to civilian prosecutors conducting an ongoing probe into Ergenekon, a clandestine criminal organization accused of plotting to overthrow the government. The soldiers’ ranks were not made public. A large cache of munitions was unearthed during excavations on land owned by the İstek Foundation in İstanbul’s Poyrazköy district in April, sparking investigations that exposed military plots.
